Dark Winds
I was listening to a cover of a song called "Girl from the North Country" by Bob Dylan. The cover was by Mendeleyev. Lyrically it doesn’t fit my story. But some songs fit on a deeper level. The music settles in all the way to your bones and resonates into your soul. This picture too, captures my mood. The sunrise is obscured today by clouds that are settling heavily on the mountains. From here, it’s quiet and peaceful, even beautiful, the clouds giving depth to the light that finds its way through. But I know that up there its anything but. Dark winds, twisting and buffeting weary travelers who are drawn inexorably through. Rain, spitting like needles in the skin.
Like a mirror my troubled brow quietly suggests the roiling thoughts inside. This traveller has no choice but to shoulder through. And yes, with the threat of precipitation too.
